History

Joe Prokopchuk, also known as Yukon Joe, was born in 1905 on a farm homestead near Arran, Saskatchewan. He came to British Columbia in the 1920s and held various jobs in the province before he began prospecting. He prospected and trapped primarily in northern British Columbia, but also in Alaska, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. He died in Prince George in 2000.
