The British Columbia government established a Supreme Court registry at Barkerville, in the Cariboo Judicial District, effective September 1, 1939. It was approved and ordered by Order-in-Council #0831-1939, dated 1939 June 21.

Volumes from other courts, such as the Wells Provincial Police Court, appear to have been transferred to the Supreme Court at Barkerville.
Scope and content
The series consists of volumes from various levels of Barkerville courts and a volume of the Wells Provincial Police Court records. The volumes were in the custody of the Barkerville Supreme Court. Typical entries include the date, name of prosecutor, name of defendant, nature of charge, costs imposed, to whom costs paid, to whom fine paid, remarks, the term served and the signature of the presiding magistrate or justice.
