This series contains miscellaneous papers relating to forest growth and forest pathology. The first file contains a copy of 'What forest trees tell about climate and soil', by G.A. Pearson, 1940. The second file contains a copy of 'Lumber recovery from second-growth western hemlock', by C.F. McBride, 1951. The series also includes a literature review of the dwarf mistletoes by Job Kuijt, 1954 and an interim report on studies on the characteristics and ecology of the root system of second growth Douglas fir, by R.G. McMinn, 1954.

The living blueprint

The item is a reel of industrial film showing the advance planning and site preparation that precedes actual logging in modern forest operations. Also includes scenes of cutting, spartree and booming operations, reforestation, maintenance, mill operations, etc.

Forestry spots

The item consists of an answer print containing television commercials of TV spots on forest fire prevention ("Be Careful") and on forest replanting. Each spot is represented in 60-second and 30-second versions. There are accompanying reels of original film and tracks.

Fire, the good servant

Item consists of a documentary video on the burning of logging waste in coastal BC. Slash burning is advocated as a means of reducing forest fire hazards and ensuring forest regeneration. The necessity of reforestation after slash burning is discussed.

Trees unlimited

Item consists of an industrial video which covers a "seed-to-seedling" look at BC's reforestation program emphasizing the production of more and better trees for tomorrow's forests.
