Biographical history

Appointed March 25, 1902. Commissioner: Mr. Justice George Anthony Walkem, of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Inquiry concerning charges made by an MLA that James Dunsmuir and his cabinet negotiated to give an excessive subsidy of Provincial money and lands to the Canadian Northern Railway without "proper safeguards," and that Dunsumuir would reap benefits from the sale of railways and rights. The commissioner's report report exonerated the government.
