Melvin McKay Stephens, a real estate and investment agent, as well as an amateur photographer, was born in Beaton, Ontario, on 28 Dec 1872. He moved to British Columbia in the 1890s and married Dora Edwards in Field, BC, on 12 Sep 1900. The couple lived in Rossland in 1903 when a son was born. M.M. Stephens at that time was manager of a telegraph company. He relocated his family to Prince Rupert around 1907 and lived there for 50 years before retiring to Summerland. He died in Summerland on 12 May 1962.
