Scope and content

Series consists of photographs acquired or taken by the Photographic branch of the Dept. of Recreation and Conservation and its predecessor bodies the British Columbia Government Travel Bureau, the Bureau of Industrial and Tourist Development and the Bureau of Provincial Information between 1927 and 1959. The photographs consist of prints and negatives showing industry and tourist sites and views in British Columbia. The series also includes several lists of the photographs and negatives probably created by BC Archives staff around 1980. Item level descriptions for 740 images from this series are available on the BC Archives Web site. Many of these images have been scanned and may be viewed online.
