The Vancouver Island Rugby Union was created on 17 December 1975 at a special general meeting of the Victoria Rugby Union held at the University of Victoria. The objects of the Society were the promotion and furtherance of amateur sport and the control, organization, promotion and encouragement of rugby union football on Vancouver Island.
