Principal correspondents include Victoria-based Directors Cuyler A. Holland and later his son Glen C. Holland; A.E. The files often contain copies of correspondence exchanged directly between ranch managers and the Company Secretary. Series deals with a wide array of subjects including purchase, sale, lease and taxation of land; water rights; purchase of and payment for supplies and equipment; improvement of ranch facilities; purchase and sale of livestock; planting and harvesting of crops; personnel matters affecting ranch hands, especially hiring, discipline, discharge and injuries; selecting, hiring and discharging managers; and general business and financial matters relating to capitalization and profitability of the ranches. A few files relating to collection of accounts of the British Columbia Market Company, a meat packing and retailing subsidiary of WCRC and the British Columbia Cattle Company, are also included. From 1889 to June 1910 correspondence is arranged chronologically; from July 1910 to June 1912 mostly by correspondent's name, though these are not alphabetically arranged; \expndtw5 from July 1912 to 1952 alphabetically with separate files for major correspondents.\expndtw2
