Name of creator
The Victoria Sealing Company was incorporated in 1900 as an organization of owners and masters of sailing schooners based in Victoria to protest seizures of vessels by Americans and to provide mutual assistance and protection.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of correspondence inward (1900-1908), business records and logbooks, and annual reports of the Victoria Sealing Company. Fonds includes the minute book (1889-1900) of the B.C. Sealing and Fishing Association.
Immediate source of acquisition
Purchased from Robert Nichols, Victoria, 1956. In January 1973, photocopies of the company records of the Victoria Sealing Co.,1900-1937, were obtained from the B.C. Corporate Registry office.
