The file consists of one letter written by Walter Phipps Ross to his "dear uncle." Walter Phipps Ross is believed to have been the nephew of Charles and Isabella Ross, but whether or not the letter was sent to Charles Ross or another of his brothers is unclear. The letter is personal in nature, and describes the suicide of Alick, Walter Phipps Ross's brother, and the death of his mother, Janet.
